Militia Rules

The rules are expected to be followed. These are important, and blatant
disregard of these may result in a reprimand, a demotion, or possibly even
banishment from the militia.

1) The militia is not about XP or AP. It is an organization to provide an
alternative to botting. Dying while fighting a Lucavi does not cause XP loss.
If you don't like being in the militia, feel free to tell a Field Marshal and
they will remove you. Nobody forces you to stay if you don't want to. Since
the militia is meant to provide fun, try to enjoy yourself, don't mess up raids
by not caring or not following the CO/XO's orders. Try to be civil and nice to
each other, if you have disagreements, don't settle them on the militia
channels.

2) You will listen to people ranked higher than you in the matter of militia
affairs. It doesn't matter if you're 250 levels higher than them and have
played this MUD since the beginning of time. If you're ranked lower than
someone, you do what they said. Period.

3) Along the same lines, you do not abuse your power. If you are ranked higher
than someone, that does not give you the right to boss someone around simply
because you feel like it. Doing this will almost certainly cause you to be
stripped of your rank.

4) Area attacks which hit more than one monster will not work against Lucavi
enemies. When you use an area attack, it will only hit one Lucavi enemy; the
others will not be engaged. The militia is supposed to provide challenges.
Area attacks kill the challenge that we intend for it. It is acceptable to be
in combat with multiple mobs, but area attacks are not allowed. If you figure
out some sneaky way to get around this and use area attacks, then you will be
punished.

5) There are three main channels for the militia: [militia], [mooc] and
[platoon]. They have specially defined uses as follows: mooc is the militia
out-of-character channel, which works mostly like gossip/newbie, but is
specific to militia members. The militia channel is the in-character channel,
used only for RPing and system messages. Take care when you use the militia
channel that it is used properly, especially in raids when the militia channel
can be overheard by the enemy Lucavi. Furthermore, DO NOT TALK ON THE MOOC
LINE DURING A RAID! A raid is defined as from the time that a red alert is
called to the green alert is called. Doing so will result in reprimands or
worse. The platoon channel is used during a raid to discuss strategy and
communicate about the raid. All raid communication should be on either platoon
or the specific platoon channels (pnorth, pscout, etc).

6) If you log on while a raid is in progress, and you're not sure whether or
not it just started, ask permission before joining in. The General or Field
Marshal who initiated the raid must give you permission. If it's clear that
the raid just started, feel free to assume that you are allowed to participate.
If you do not receive a response from the General or Field Marshal who
initiated the raid, they are probably away from the keyboard, and you should
assume that it is allowable to join in. If you are told not to join in, then
you may also be told to log off until the raid ends.

7) If you must leave in the middle of a raid, please inform everyone else ahead
of time if possible. The best time to tell people you will have to leave early
is before the raid begins. If you are in the CO or XO position when you have
to leave, be sure to call for a new CO or XO before logging off.

8) A raid takes precedence over ANYTHING that you are doing. This includes
killing the black rabite, trying to get those special weapons, solving a quest,
or anything else. If a yellow alert is called while you are in the middle of
something, you may ask the person who called the alert if they will let you
finish, and they might be willing to wait until you are done to start the raid.
But when you see the message saying that there's a red alert, you stop
everything you're doing and participate. There are no exceptions to this.
Similarly, your conversations during raids are meant to be restricted to the
raid. Do not distract your fellow members or yourself.

9) Use common sense. This might be hard for some of you! But don't do stupid
things that you can be sure would piss people off. Take this seriously, but
have fun, too.

10) If you have multiple characters and are logged on with a character not in
the Militia when a raid begins, you may not switch to a character in the
Militia until the raid is over. You may also not switch from one militia
character to another after a raid begins. However, if you do not have time for
a raid, you may ask permission to log off or to log a non-militia character
before the raid actually begins.

11) If a raid is announced and you are not able to stay on with the time and
attention needed to participate in it, ask the general or wizard who called the
alert for permission to log off. Logging off without asking permission or
logging off so that you can play a different character is not allowed. If you
have to leave immediately, then you don't actually need to wait around for a
response, but you should still inform the person running the raid that you need
to leave.
