Kourin the Lucavi sorceress has found a way of attacking Elsendor indirectly.
Instead of hurling monster hordes at the fortified city, she wants to power the
dreaded Chaos Field spell to destroy her adversaries once and for all. This
spell is powered by the spirits of the dead, and Kourin intends to collect the
souls of the citizens of neighbouring towns and villages to archieve her aim.
Using her mastery of soul manipulation, Kourin has researched the phenomenon of
the 'Oversoul'. Forcing the spirits of many dead monsters of its kind into a
beast, it will not only increase in strength but also display new and wonderous
abilities. Kourin has found a way to force this Oversoul status in normal
Lucavi monsters. As her powers increase in strength, this ability may become
stronger as well.
It is the duty of the militia to save the lives of the innocent citizens of the
realms while Kourin and her hordes try the best to take them. Should enough
people die, the Chaos Field will reach full power and Elsendor will be
annihilated.
* There are NO black materia or generals.
* Kourin does not attack Elsendor, but instead sends monster hordes to attack
other towns and villages.
* Threat raids pay no attention to which platoons are open or closed. The
monster attacks can occur at any town in the realms, even if the platoon is
closed.
* Raid start will be called automatically, and unless green alert is given
(also automatically), the raid is not over.
* The CO/XO need to issue orders regarding where militia members should go.
Guarding chokes is not a useful strategy in threat raids, since the enemies do
not attack Elsendor. Be sure to pay close attention to the orders given by the
CO and XO.
* Monsters may go into Oversoul, increasing in power.
* The militia loses if the Chaos Field reaches full power within the set amount
of time. The chaos field increases in power with each citizen that is killed by
the Lucavi.
* During the raid, mementos may be returned to Bob, who will then disrupt
Kourin's channeling. This reduces the amount of time the Militia has to hold
out.
* Due to the chaotic energies surrounding Elsendor, the watchtower and crystal
balls won't show any Lucavi monsters. Instead, the militia must rely on reports
from their allies. Lila will occasionally give status reports over the militia
channel on towns which are currently under attack, and speaking to Violett in
the watch tower will let you get a report at any time.
* Monsters appear and attack a town. Either the town leader will call for help,
or Kourin will mention a platoon of monsters invading a town. If a monster type
is specified, there will be monsters in that town. Note that Lucavi enemies can
appear in rooms in the town where normal enemies do not usually appear, such as
item shops.
* A Bomb is placed inside a town. The bomb will be in a random room inside the
town, and a militia member must defuse it by guessing the number. The bomb will
tell you whether your number is too high or too low, and the number will be
from 0 to 999. If nobody defuses it withing 2 minutes or 15 tries, it will
explode and kill everyone in the town.
* Poison or disease will be released in a town. The town leader will call for
help and mention the problem. Militia members must then proceed to heal ailing
citizens before they die of sickness.
* A threat is not neutralized until all mobs are killed, a bomb is defused, or
antidotes distributed. Healing the citizens might help them survive longer if
something else happens to them.
